BIOGRAPHY

Michael is from Mumbles, Wales, and has been a passionate musician his whole life. He started out playing Piano, Violin, and Clarinet, soon adding in some Saxophone, Organ and Viola.

After studying on the BMus (Hons) Vocal Studies course at Trinity Laban, he went on to study for his MA in Musical Direction at the Royal 

Conservatoire of Scotland.

Michael has since worked internationally as a Musical Director, Arranger and Composer. His musicals include 'The Clockmaker's Daughter' and 'Animus' with writer/lyricist Daniel Finn.

Teaching and Coaching: Michael also teaches and musically directs at institutions around the world including Trinity Laban, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Italia Conti, London School of Musical Theatre, Associated Studios, University of Cumbria, London Studio Centre, University of West London and Dubai Performing Arts. Productions include: The Baker's Wife, Cry Baby!, Bernarda Alba, Guys and Dolls , Spring Awakening, Into the Woods, Animus (World Premiere), School of Rock.

Prizes and Awards: Whilst at Trinity Laban, Michael was awarded the Alan J Kirby Prize for Conducting and Charles Proctor Prize for Choral Conducting. In 2013 and 2015, he was nominated for Best Musical Direction in Fringe or Regional Theatre for [title of show] and The Clockmaker's Daughter at the Landor Theatre by BroadwayWorld.com.

Composing: He is the co-writer with Daniel Finn of the new musicals Animus and The Clockmaker's Daughter, which was nominated for 3 Off West End Awards including Best Musical Production, Best Off West End Production in the West End Wilma Awards 2015, Best New Musical; and 6 BroadwayWorld.com Awards including Best New Production of a Musical (Fringe or Regions).                                     Upcoming / other projects with Daniel Finn include: The Whisper Tree, The Year Before You, Foolish and The Night Circus (concept selections).
